DID YOU KNOW THAT (Playstations)

Today I dedicate this page to the domestic gamers.

Who of you play the Wii or the PS2?
Well, we are still a lot ... LOL.

Who has the console permanently connected to the mains and only turns off the ON / OFF power button, and leave them on stand-by should be aware of the following:

WII in stand-by - 4W
PS2 on standby - 6 to 9W (the PS3 is not far behind the PS2-level stand-by)

Let's say that you only play at the weekend about 3 hours (if you play more or less redo the math for your number of hours).

Leaving the whole week on stand-by makes:
  WII - 24 hours x 5 days x 4W = 480W
  PS2 - 24 hours x 5 days x 6 = 9W to 720W to 1080W

Weekend, we played just three hours a day:
  WII - 21 hours x 2 days x 4W = 168W
  PS2 - 21 hours x 2 days x 6 = 9W to 252W to 378W

So, during a week, consume unnecessarily on standby in WII is 648W and for PS2 is 972W to 1458W.

At the end of the month (4 weeks) we have:
WII - 4 weeks x 648W = 2592W (divide 2592W/1000 and multiply for your electricity kWh costs plus VAT).
PS2 - 4 weeks x 972W to 1458W = 3888W to 5832W (divide 3888W/1000 and 5832W/1000 and multiply each for your electricity kWh costs plus VAT).

In fact, we can say that leaving on stand-by one of these consoles in this period corresponds to save less than 1 per month in energy (more less). But for many of us more than one playstations are connected (or because we have children who also play other consoles, or because we play different games from different consoles or even related to have a console in more than a room in the house). Here the numbers add up and you start saving some money monthly.

Regards
